Programming a PIC chip,
This is my first time messing around with these devices
There are lots of pic devices, and lots of different ways to program them
allso loads of videos on youtube , but none made sense to me , as they were either to complicated , or videos without sound that made it even more complicated or not giving the full details from start to finish of how to get a pic working
I hope these 3 videos help to demystify micro controllers or P.I.Cs

  • Great video - thanks for sharing.

You seem like you've been working in electronics for a while. I am keen to watch your other videos and try and figure out how I am supposed to program this thing on the bench next to me :)

I was lucky (in some ways) - since my board was already pre-assembled.

  • PS: I think it would have been a good idea to have filmed the entire process in realtime, and then sped it up with music. I feel as if you have only made HALF a video, no offence.

  • Your board population order is wrong. You should start at the LOWEST profile components FIRST (resistors) and then work upwards (excluding IC sockets, which I would leave until last, since these are to be used multiple times, and you DO NOT WANT FLUX IN THE SOCKETS!). Here is what I do:

    1/ Resistors & diodes

2/ Small caps (or "compacitors" - lmao!)

3/ Keep working upwards in height, inserting DB9 skt and electrolytic caps LAST.
