How To Get the National Dex & PokeRadar

In Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, you get the National Dex and the Pokemon Radar when you beat the Elite 4 and see all of the Sinnoh Pokemon to get their pictures in your Dex. The Sinnoh Dex has 150 Pokemon in D/P.

In Pokemon Platinum, the Sinnoh Dex is bigger and contains 210 Pokemon. But you still have to see them all and beat the Elite 4.

It sounds like a task, but it won't be if you battle every trainer you see up to the Elite 4. I skipped a couple, and I was missing about 19 Pokemon so I had to search them out.

In Pokemon DIAMOND & PEARL:

DIALGA/PALKIA:
The cover legend opposite of your game will be nowhere to be found. So what do you do? FLY to Celestic Town and go see Cynthia's Grandma. On the table will be a book. I'm pretty sure it will show you a picture of either Dialga or Palkia, depending on your version. This picture adds the file to your PokeDex.

UXIE, MESPRIT, AZELF:
Go to the 3 Lakes and take on these Pokemon.



In Pokemon PLATINUM:

MANAPHY:
Manaphy is surprisingly in the Sinnoh Dex. But you might not have it. So go to Mr. Backlot's Mansion that is south of Hearthome City and check the book on the table. Apparently he has interest in Manaphy; there's also a picture which shows you Manaphy so it gets loaded onto your Dex.

DIALGA/PALKIA:
During the event atop the Spear Pillar, since both Dialga and Palkia appear, they both get added to your Dex as Seen, although you do not interact with them.

ROTOM:
You have to see Rotom as well. So go to the Old Chateau haunted mansion at night that is in Eterna Forest (FLY to Eterna City and go West).
Go inside, and go upstairs and into one of the back rooms. There will be a TV.
Thump the TV. (insert what you will here)
You can catch, kill, or run away. Either way, once you catch it, it won't be back.


UXIE, MESPRIT, AZELF:
Oddly enough, although you see Dialga and Palkia, you come into close contact with these three creatures and they don't get recorded. So you must seek them out in their Lake homes.
So go to Lake Verity, Valor and Acuity and be prepared to duel. I think you can run away and they will re-appear later. So if you just want to get their picture in your Dex, do so.


After you have filled your PokeDex, head to Prof. Rowan's lab in SandGem Town. You'll get the upgrade and the gift.
