@Dou8me Yeah, but if you have been trained to keep your balance with your hands either on your hips or at your side, it must be hard 'waving' them around like in other style.
Same thing was true in Riverdance's tap battle dance (1996). The Irish dances tried to move their hands in the jazz style, but you could see that it was weird for them. Props for trying, they are amazing dancers anyway.

@Dou8me yea thats true mostly; flately is a great dancer tho, the steps he changed and his dance technique is amazing; if only he hired a real theatre or dance director/ choreographer for his shows

Many times, when in the throes of extreme passion, faces become distorted. That doesn't make the partners ugly in each other's eyes. But, except for this piece, it's almost like one shouldn't be watching!

@tereziaca In my opinion, though he has contributed to the construnction of modern irish dance, Michael Flatley is a clown. He haven't got charisma, he's just an exibitionist, and sometimes he puts himself in ridiculous.
Now, then, he is throwing everything away with shows like Celtic Tiger (which SUCKED, imho).
