  • Hi, are the balls fixed to the chip by any method before blowing hot air on them? Why don't they fall off when pointing the nozzle of the hot air rework station at them? Thanks!

  • @cd4600, I use tacky flux paste. It holds the solder balls in place while also helps them flow onto the pads.

  • I have an atten 8502D set the temp to 430 airflow 35 but it keeps merging the balls together. I applied a very thin layer of china Amtech NC-559-ASM, used a card to scrape off as much flux. Do you think it's because of the flux or the machine?

  • @lynchdemartini, first all, all flux from China is fake. I spread the flux on using my finger. If you use something else, it may still be too much flux paste.

  • @lynchdemartini hi, i have an atten 858D+ and use similiar settings. i do find using the larger nozzle supplied works better as the end of the wand has a grill which gives a slight twist to the airflow. i use amtech rma 223 from china and its not fake, you just put half a pea size on the chip and really work it around the chip. also put your solder balls into a metal bowl which helps them de-stat as the plastic bottles they come in can cause static.

  • @DJKloop, check the RMA 223 tube for a hologram sticker. If it says "Kingfull" on it, it's fake. Amtech flux is made in the USA, btw. Also, real Amtech has a particular scent to it when it gets heated up. It smells almost like pine-sol.

  • What just happened?

  • all i will say is that you have balls of steel to be that patient

  • @BAConsoles i appreciate that a lot of fake stuff does originate from eastern provinces, but AMTECH do have a distributors in china and hong kong, along with other countries so to say its all fake from china is a bit unjust.

  • @lynchdemartini, for the video demo I used a nozzle. Now I don't use a nozzle anymore for this operation. I just use the barewand.
