In this video Conversation, Peter Enns asks author and theologian N.T. Wright to respond to a question from a BioLogos Forum reader about the implications of the relationship between politics and religion within the evangelical movement.
@1:43 "passionate social concern of the sort which were you to transplant it to America people would say 'ooh that's a bit left wing'". That's the understatement of year!!! They would call you an outright socialist or a commie. Just look at Grudem's book on politics. Jesus is obviously a conservative Republican and anything to the left of that is heresy. talk about "substituting our (ie Grudem's) framework and judging ppl according to where they are on our (his) framework"!!!
There has been no "culture war". The Left have simply stated what they wanted, and gotten it after the Christians complained for a while. Christians have lost every "battle". Christianity is en enfeebled force in the US. The only victory I know of is when the Libs were booted out of Concordia-St. Louis. No victories in society, and almost none in the church. Evolution rules over all now.
Wright completely misunderstood the issue of slippery slope. Well, actually he has not addressed it at all. He simply gets caught up with the confusion of the terms left and right.
