Richard Nelson Frye (born January 10, 1920) is an American scholar of Iranic and Central Asian Studies, and Aga Khan Professor Emeritus of Iranian Studies at Harvard University. His professional areas of interest are Iranian philology, and the history of Iran and Central Asia before 1000 CE.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama to a family of immigrants from Sweden, "Freij" has four children, his second marriage being to an Iranian-Assyrian scholar, Dr. Eden Naby, from Urmia, Iran who teaches at Columbia University. He speaks fluent Russian, German, Arabic, Persian, Pashto, French, Uzbek, and Turkish,[1] and has extensive knowledge of Avestan, Pahlavi, Sogdian, and other Iranian languages and dialects, both extinct and current.
what the shit?! this old man has no idea what he's talking about! the turks were never "excluded" from the iranian community. as matter of fact iranians want them to join. but pan-turkist goal has always been to annihilate iranian ethnic identity and liquidate their history, culture, land and people! that's what they've been doing for decades: stealing iranian history, subverting people, dividing the lands, and relabeling iranian culture as "pure turkish"!

Dear Kavkboz (:), THank you very much! for sharing this video! It is significantly important for Central Asians what Prof. Frye is saying about them and their input to the world and Islamic culture! I can also see that ustod Akbar Tursun, a prominent Tajik philosopher, that is sitting next to the Prof. Frye is getting ready to make his talk. I am wondering whether there is a video of his speak also? If so, where I can find it? Many thanks in advance! May peace be always with you my brother!
