Here is a Victor phonograph from the early 1900's playing a dance tune from that era. The dancing man is replica of Ragtime Rastus. Ragtime Rastus was a popular phonograph accessory manufactured by the National Toy Company, Boston, Mass.

  • Amazing! But the movie ends right at the time the tonearm is about to hit the toy base, so it will not allow to play the record till the end, right?

  • @PKamargo

    you are absolutely correct.

  • I have seen one demonstrated by a phonograph collector at my stamp club. Its the National toy company and it advertises several other types including a demale and has "Patent 1915" on the box, its 1910s rather than 20s as jazz only caught on after 1920

  • @princette

Sorry, last time I checked, in 2011, the guy who made these stopped doing them. Real Bummer.
