This is wonderful! I recently heard David in more conventional countertenor repertoire (Handel's Jephta) and was impressed enough to find out more. A "Google" search came up with this amazing performance. Many countertenors have modal baritone voices, so I wonder if any other countertenors have tried this. Does anyone know?
Wow - just, wow. I'm absolutely stunned. When he suddenly dropped his voice more than an octave to sing the father's voice, my mouth literally dropped open - I had NOT been expecting that! And the difference between the three voices! The childish, innocent voice of the son, the nasal and devious voice of the elven king and the low, manly-soothing voice of the father - they're all completely unique.
Added to that the PERFECT diction and there's only one word for this perfomance: STUNNING.
