Stereotypically Dumb/Stupid Americans

READ ME:
If you want to know why there's a 'dumb American' stereotype here's why. This is an excerpt from "The Chaser's War On Everything" in Australia.

To everyone watching this is COMEDY. It brings up a stereotype (read: STEREOTYPE) that some Americans are stupid, as can be seen by the people in this video. The intention is to select the idiotic responses—just like what would happen on Letterman or Leno. It isn't aimed at giving people an insight into American culture; it's a show for people watching to laugh at.

No-one thinks that all Americans are stupid, and if they do, well then they're just as ignorant as everybody interviewed in the video.*

*And if you managed to read all the way to here, if you comment, put the word 'purple' somewhere in your comment just to see how many people are actually able to read before commenting. As sad as it may sound, many people take this video the wrong way and think that it's an attack on their country. Seriously. Not. (And if you read some of the comments, you'll know understand my frustration with some people not doing so!). :)

@jsmith19810808081 I'm not saying we're the smartest country at all. Our education system is crap and a lot of people are lost to ignorance. In many cases its not their fault. I'm just saying we're not all stupid, and every country has its stupid people, even the the country with the highest average IQ will have its percentage of stupid and ignorant people.

@YAOIHUNTER3000 Yes there are stupid people in our country, but arn't there stupid people in every country? It would be quite easy for me to go to your country, find the stupidest people, ask them questions about world politics, film them, then bring it back to america to show everyone how stupid your country is. And if anyone gave a good knowlagable interview I'd just toss it out cause it didn't fit my point. That's exacty what this show did.

@3HotPotatoes this isn't nececarily "proof" of how dumb americans are. Its easy to pick out the stupid interviews and throw away any good interviews they might have gotten and air them on tv to make fun of us "dumb americans". The truth is that every county will have its stupid or ignorant people.

@loyalrobot No it's not. The reporters obviously chose the dumbest people they could find to answer these questions just for the sake of humor. Every country has stuupid people. Its easy to put in a bias on americans when they only film the stupid ones but leave out the smart ones.
