your aiming hurts my soul

This boss was a bit of an anti-climax. I had done every side mission by this point, so I had a level 35 or 36 Siren.
On the off chance that it did manage to hit me enough to affect my health, I could just phasewalk my health back up to max and wait for my sheild recharge. Hell, even without phasewalk this would've been a picnic. All you have to do is empty 5 or 6 clips of any decent combat rifle into the giant vagina-face and it dies.

Destroyers: Raaah i'm big and badass and fugly i'm gonna kill you and consume the universe RAAAH!!
Brick: Fuck you *spanks him to dead with fists*

You know that if you jump off of the cliff before the destroyer kills you you respawn but the destroyer is still there without fill healt?
-
For the complaints that it's too easy, the key is to *not* do any of the DLC before taking it on. Makes it a lot harder, at least solo, even if you do the smart thing and leave one of the purple tentacles alive so that they don't respawn to make your life miserable.

The quest to open the vault being turned in gives you XP and then automatically gives you the quest to defeat the Destroyer.

Why did you get a level? but this fight was.. pretty intense got me a little bit before i discovered the behind the tentecle tactib Btw: Use the eririan stuff on him! because it has unlimited ammo if you play as siren like me but i practally run trough the enemys because i had no good weapons to kill the eridians...
-
When my brother and I did this the first time I was the soldier and by bro was the hunter. I managed to run and jump up the right tentacle that wraps around the rock and I just kept throwing my turret in its eye. Every shot the turret fired was a critical. lol.

how did your skill cooldown so fast?

That bitch is finally dead she was so damn

I think that the end boss always seems disappointing, because you're already familiar with game mechanics/techniques, and usually have all the upgrades neccesary to make it like "a walk in the park". I mean, at the end of AC1/AC2 (easiest)/AC3 it pretty much took me a few minutes to finish the last boss. And on Bioshock it was just like "Meh, just a few big daddies and big sisters"

@Fehnrique I didn't take a single damage, and I stood right in front of that creepy octopus :P
sadly I did all the side missions, except for find rifle parts. A combination of that plus messing around alot ended me in having a lvl 35 Siren for the last boss. Ended up to e un eventfull since I basically phasedwalked most of the way and killed anything that bothered me.
And during the actual final fight I basically unloaded 5 full rounds of smg ammo at its mouth(crits) and it died... so I never really saw any other phase... oh well hope its harder on second play

Nope it doesn't get harder...
I actually thought it was easier on the 2nd play. =/
By the time you get to him on 2nd play through you'll be leveled up to your cap && have some much nicer gear that will make the job alot easier.

Depending on your class or who you are playing with, this fight can be anywhere from difficult to extremely easy.
Roland players, or players in a party with a Roland player (multiplayer) may find this to be one of the easiest fights in the game.
Just have the Roland player equip a class mod for ammo regeneration or have the Stockpile (ammo regeneration) ability. The players simply hide behind the two side pillars (the ones the Destroyer latches onto) and fire away, taking no damage.

I haven't fought him with a Soldier, but It's very easy with a Berserker.... I was actually hoping he would put up more of a fight, kind of disappointed.
Hopefully he won't be that easy if I go through the 2nd run. = (
