There is a similar thing in russia with bears. No one turned it into a holiday yet, and no one is stalking bears, but it's believed that when a bear first comes out after hybernating and sees his reflection, he will go back and continue sleeping because the cold season is not yet over.

Phil's not the only Groundhog Day groundhog out there. There are several citys in the USA who have their own weather predicting rodent. Phil's not even the one with the best record for accurate predictions.

Phil and all of his ancestors have only been right 39% of the time anyway....

6 more weeks of Winter? We shall see. With the weather predictions for the next 2 weeks in my neck of the woods, we're supposed to be in the mid 40's. MILD for MI!!!

I like Groundhog Day, but mostly because of the movie. However, as a Pennsylvanian, I feel like it's part of my duty to visit Punxsutawney, but alas, I have never done so in my 26 years of life. I hear it's not all it's cracked up to be, but I would like to say I've done it at least once.
