Leather Value Chain - Productive Network, Ecuador

In the province of Azuay, former competitors are collaborating under a shared brand to put Ecuador on the map for fine leather goods, like shoes, handbags and jackets. USAID's Productive Network project, managed by CARANA, helped leather producers organize and develop the joint Qiwa brand, including a model store in the tourist town of Cuencha. Qiwa is exporting to the US, Europe and other South American countries and has expanded its supplier network from six to 13 small producers.
