Unfortunately, that "Stop Daylight Savings Time" really was a blow for the drive-in industry. According to the Cinderella Twin Drive-in website, DST was partly responsible for over 90% of drive-in closures as films couldn't begin until after sunset; a summer film would have to wait until after 9:00 for instance in most locations.

The line-up of 1963 cigarettes at :38? Most of them are gone- including Brown & Williamson's "Life"; Lorillard's "York"; American Tobacco's "Herbert Tareyton", "Montclair" and "Duke"; Liggett & Myers' "Oasis"; and Philip Morris' "Philip Morris Commander" and "Alpine" (that's "Marlboro Menthol" these days). In fact, American Tobacco was "swallowed" by Brown & Williamson, who merged with R.J. Reynolds several years ago. Liggett's still around, but Philip Morris makes Chesterfield & L&M today.

That's veteran announcer Art Gilmore (one of the most identifiable voices in movie trailers) at 2:47 describing the "new" ratings system that went into effect in 1968..."M" was eventually replaced by "PG" {Parental Guidance}, which is still used today.

One time back in the 50's I remember there was this guy with a huge 59 Caddy convertible,we were just adorable teens back then and always strapped for cash,so we waited until this guy started putting the moves on his mistress and while he was busy doing his impression of an octopuss we siphoned all the gas out of his tank into our DeSoto.
Boy we laughed so hard all the way home imagining that old Gomer running out of gas a few blocks after leaving!
Kids today just dont know what they're missin

Ahh the halcyon days of youth!..I can still remember those late nights at the drive in .putting bullet holes in the screen during intermissions, cutting the valve stems on patrons cars while their owners made out like monkeys in heat.
And what about that time we stole this guys hubacps during the film and sold them for popcorn and jujube money!
Good times!
