Gustaf Nordqvist: Till havs (At Sea)
Santtu Matias Rouvali, conductor
Michael Weinius, tenor

From the Lahti Symphony Orchestras´s concert "In the footsteps of Jussi Björling" in Lahti Sibelius Hall October 13, 2011.

The great Swedish tenor Jusssi Björling born in 1911 has been celebrated this year in many ways. Capturing the spirit of Björling in this concert is one of the most interesting Swedish tenors on the scene today, Michael Weinius. The Swedish element is very much in the fore in other ways, too, in this concert conducted by the young Santtu-Matias Rouvali, who made his LSO debut last autumn to great critical acclaim. The concert begins with Liquid Marble (1995) by Anders Hillborg, a work that has received glowing reviews the world over, and ends with Wilhelm Stenhammar's mood piece Serenade, one of the finest items in the Swedish orchestral repertoire.
