It is apparent from the comments made by some legislators that (as good as some of us may have it) homebrewing has a long way to go as a community and culture in all 50 states.

Homebrewing is now legal in AL as of 5/9/13 - HB9 was signed by Gov. Bentley. Although this video is rather entertaining, so please keep it posted so we can look back on the bad old days & laugh.

Coming to you from Birmingham, AL. We should hopefully be legalizing homebrewing soon. Our new bill passed in the House and should not have a problem from here. I would say that you would not believe the arguments against the bill, but you've heard them for yourselves. These people don't even know the difference between brewing and distilling. How can you argue for or against something if you're as misinformed as these clowns? It really shows how broken AL is when we cant agree on beer.

I am a homebrewer in the state of Texas. Brewing beer is waaaay different than distilling. and it takes 2 weeks to finish making beer. They so need to get a clue. Beer is grain, yeast, hops, and water. thats it. nothing harmful going in.
