Audio excerpts edited from hour-plus of debate on House Bill 266, which would have legalized homebrewing in the state of Alabama. It is apparent from the comments made by some legislators that (as good as some of us may have it) homebrewing has a long way to go as a community and culture in all 50 states.

  • This isn't a Republican or Democrat thing. This is an Alabama thing.

  • @pharmer1 Those are blue dog democrats. They're pretty much the same thing as neoconservatives. They're not liberal at all. They're mostly backwards and beyond ignorant.

  • Get your government out of our kitchens!

  • The ignorance is strong with these politicians.

  • People from Alabama are really dumb.

  • Lot of folks outside don't realize this video simply excerpts the worst of the worst, which is typically Laird and Holmes. The bill actually had several sponsors on both sides of the aisle that jumped ship and voted no at the last second for some unknown reason. As i follow the fight to change our antiquated alcohol laws, I have learned something. Our elected officials are not experts on much of anything and I hate knowing that our freedoms are left in the hands of these idiots (R or D).

  • @trilobright No. Moonshine is not legal.

  • Thank God I don't Live in Alabama.

  • I thought New Jersey was bad. We actually have to buy a permit to make wine or mead. If you want to brew beer, it's a separate permit to buy as well. Sweet home Alabama, where the laws are so blue.

  • Roll Tide!!! a very pale tasteless watery tide...

  • At first I thought this was a joke video. Does any body wonder why this country is so screwed up any more. What a bunch of morons! The real unfortunate thing is Alabama doesn't corner the market on knuckle head politicians.

  • America the land of the free...
