Kristianandrew - Please let this go. It doesn't seem this person understands. Kirkville posted on our youth group video singing Father Abraham saying almost the same thing as your post. It seems he has a problem with COG churches and feels the need to judge us.

The reason why the current generation (COG) wants to put on the face of contemporary society is simply this.....they are completely lacking in spiritual power to alter objective conditions. Write upon their door posts the inscription Ichabod.....THE GLORY HAS DEPARTED. When the Church of God KNOWINGLY embraced the world, it KNOWINGLY forfeited the power of the Holy Ghost. The "spirit" now embraced by the Church of God is that of Jezebel. The wise heed instruction; the foolish perish.

Very interesting video; very contemporary and politically correct. The current Church of God appears to have left its heritage far behind. There was the day when you represented a group set apart from the world. Today you look like, sound like and act in every way like the world. It appears that the pioneers who birthed Church of God denomination suffered the abuse and stigma of society for naught. I wonder what they would say if they could see what their church had evolved to?

so a video backed by a contemporary worship song about mission and images that show a community of faith gathering for worship is enough for you to discern the amount of God's glory present among them? doesn't that seem a bit pretentious? you're still assuming that a certain style of music and dress r the markers of evil, as if those things needed to b changed, as if they're spiritual. and if glory is the "weight" of Gods presence, then the greatest evidence is changed lives not changed shirts

really? you think they would have continued dressing like 19th century farmers and singing songs that stylistically stop engaging the world?
if there is an indictment it should be that we aren't pushing our culture enough with the message of the kingdom of God/heaven. i respectfully disagree with your intimation that "be ye seperate" is a predominantly outward issue...and to be quite frank, the goal is not to emulate the church of God in 1906 but to be the church of God in 2010
