Kojuuro's Basara gauge goes up while sitting. It's one of the three skills he has that carries over to SB3. He uses it in Aftermath and Ueda, but you probably stomp him before he gets the chance to do anything.
And I was wrong regarding the tournament. Beating all 100 floors without saving gets you 1 million gold coins. Doing all of the missions gets you 500,000 extra exp. Sorry about that, but it's still by far the fastest farming method since the levels are easier. Can be tedious though.
