A plea by Manchester based film maker Colin Warhurst for your help in a campaign based in the United Kingdom to Reform the Video Recordings Act of 1984. Film makers across the North West who are now using digital technologies to make full quality feature films or short films on their time and using incredibly small budgets. Unfortunately, the UK is under a film stranglehold when it comes to certification as it costs hundreds if not thousands of pounds to have a film rated. Unless a film is rated, it is illegal to display the film in public (outside of festivals or with express local council permission, which is rarely given without a BBFC rating) or to even sell directly to consenting adults over the age of 18. All arguments about film content aside, this restriction on content does not apply to any of the other arts, and the notion of any writer, painter, musician or craftsmen having to submit their work to check for content is ridiculous. The current VRA act is horrendously out of date and the British Film Industry is dominated by American films. Help us bring about a new independent British film industry where British people can make films about, in and for the British people. Help us bring in a VOLUNTARY 18 CERTIFICATE that would allow any film maker to sell their work to ADULTS only without fear of prosecution, and in doing so bring about the freedom of expression and explosion in creativity that this country sorely needs. If you help sign our petition, we will be eternally grateful, as will any actors, writers, musicians, artists, camera and sound technicians and anyone who works in film. Thank you.

--If you have any films, or wish to make any video comments discussing these issues (for or against) please let us know and we will favourite them on our channel. We wish to inspire debate, and hopefully positive change.--
