@3martijns the only people who qualify for unemployment must have had a full time job for at least 6 months that they were laid off from before they can apply.
And in some situations If you had children but were laid off from a job with a decent wage, you could actually lose money paying for child care while working a minimum wage job.
(Just playing from the other side here. Also I've never recieved unemployment!)
