JoJo by Boz Scaggs
From the album "Middle Man"
(written by Boz Scaggs, David Foster & David Lasley)
Lyrics:
Look out behind you
JoJo's got his gun
He wouldn't mean to
You know he likes his fun
JoJo dig those spinning lights
Way-out games and dizzy heights below him
JoJo dig those Broadway nights, flashy lines
You know him
He got you covered
You know it right out front
Hey, fifty dollars
He'll get you all you want
JoJo dig those spinning lights
Way-out games and dizzy heights below him... and it's all below him
JoJo dig those Broadway nights, flashy lines
You know him
Ever so rarely, that man in a million's born
Gentle and soft
But he just as soon'll off you for looking the wrong way as not
JoJo
His baby stays high
Got to keep her sweet
He keep her just right
Keeps her on the street
JoJo dig those spinning lights
Way-out games and dizzy heights below him
JoJo dig those Broadway nights
You know him
(Repeat chorus)
Say, what do you think of gentlemen wearing mink?
Gentle and soft
But who'd just as soon off you for looking the wrong way as not
JoJo
So look out behind you
JoJo got a gun
Though he wouldn't mean to
He just likes his fun
JoJo dig those spinning lights
Way-out games and dizzy heights below him
Man, it's way below him
JoJo dig those Broadway nights, flashy lines below him
JoJo, how low can you go boy?

I had the pleasure of singing backing vocals on this cut, with the very talented Sharon Redd and David Lasley, who also co-wrote this with Boz. GREAT studio experience, and smooth vocals. This is a fave of mine! Thanks for posting, MemphoTenn

What a wonderful song! My very favorite from Boz Scaggs. And, thank you MemphoTenn for posting the album version. The single version cuts out about 2 minutes of the song and in the process loses so much.

Yes... I prefer the album version. The song is so great, you never want it to end. The longer, the better.

Thanks for the upload. Really an interesting song with a really jazzy and funky-smooth feeling to it.

That is signature Boz Scaggs. Smooth, jazzy, funky... Not too polished; just the right amount of loose, raw bluesy edge. Perfect.
