  • Love it! Want to do it but I'm a soldier not a builder; is there a place that teaches these non-electrical methods or are you self-taught? What do you can that ratchet gearing mechanism?

  • @Byat100 Hi there. This is just a simple chain hoist albeit one that will lift a substantial weight. I haven't been there to see the finished cabin but hope to this summer & will post a more complete cabin when I do. Good luck.

  • I am a log home builder myself and like to see how other builders get the job done in remote locations. I would like to see the cabin when log work is complete.

  • @AlaskaBearFactory Glad you found the clip interesting. Ian is just now completing the interior of the cabin. I don't have any pictures of the completed project but will take some next time I'm out there. I could put you in touch with the builder if you are interested. He also built my log cabin which is somewhat larger. I'm very impressed with his ingenuity and building skills.
