that you have to realize that there will very likely never be an established standard and you need to keep up just to some degree. Trust me. My tv is probably about 5ish years old and, although I would like a new one, I see no need to get one since the one I have right now is fine for my needs. However, I am not going to criticize other people for keeping up and if my needs ever change, I will have no problem with changing.
I think that it is just fine to have outdated technology. I do not believe that people need to buy a new tv every 2 to 5 years but just like analog signal now is, stuff becomes obsolete. It is almost impossible if not impossible to find any new movies on VHS. If someone stubbornly never got a DVD player waiting for an "established Standard", they would never be able to buy, rent, or most likely watch new movies. I am not saying you need to buy every new gizmo that comes out. I am simply saying
A standard will never be established. It is technology. Technology will keep changing. It will never have an established standard. Have fun with your piece of crap tv...for the rest of your life.
