The test case for this idea would be the 20th century, but the cause/effect relationship is missing again. How inconvenient, eh? First there was warming in the early years of the 20the century ~30 years before significant anthropogenic emissions began, then ~40 years of cooling after those emissions began.

And what about flat or cooling since '98? Are you not aware that most CO2 was released from 1978 onward? Where is this cause and effect?

No, the graph presented here(the Vostov Ice Cores) is very clear.....Did you look at it carefully? Just look at the peaks & the plummets on that graph. CO2 consistently lags the temperature increases...that falsifies the idea of "positive feedback loop" in this instance.

Wait a second... They are saying 1) Temp goes up, 2) THEN CO2 goes up, 3) Therefore CO2 doesn't cause global warming. BUT, they never mentioned the possibility that 1) CO2 goes up 2) Temp Goes Up, 3) CO2 goes up further 4) Causing a runaway positive feedback loop until the earth gets too hot and cools down to maintain homeostasis. The graph they showed can be interpreted in other ways, but they only presented one interpretation.

jakehr - you try to talk down the beneficial effect of extra CO2 by saying you need water as well - well yes of course! And all the evidence is that a warmer planet is also a wetter planet. So ther you are, extra CO2 is good for crops and biodiversity. Case dismissed.

yes CO2 is "plant food," but so is water, and what is water vapor, water. So, yes it is plant food, but that doesn't mean that it will be beneficial because you need water as well with the plants to make them grow: 6CO2+6H2O=C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6O2. So, you need water, as rain, river, or ocean to effect the roots as well as CO2

Are you sure about this? I have read this in regard to certain fertilizer use. But not about the effect of this with regard to Co2.
