Ensemble Origin was created in 1998 with a two-part mission:
To reconstruct ancient musical instruments from the Silk Road
region, and to adapt their ancient sounds to a new kind of
music. Ensemble Origin seeks to express the emotional ties among
the peoples of these Asian countries and regions, to explore their
enduring yearning for peace, and to share this art and message with
the world. It arrives in the U.S. after successful tours in Japan and
Europe and was featured at the EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan.

@askaninjafan at around 2:30 he talks specifically about why he uses power tools. he says it'd take up to 10 years to do some of the things he's doing in a week and a half if he had to use manual tools. the instrument is ancient not the construction methods.
