You're taking Obama's words too literally...he's inciting community involvment on keeping kids out of trouble and out of gangs..why do you think the audience was laughing...cause they got message which was not to hit kids..I'm freakin 14 and live in a state where they allow corporal punishment and I get this more than you.

Can you name the last "peoples bill" to pass congress?
It was Prop 13 -- that long ago.
All other Bills are one group attacking the other -- Perpetual War - Perpetual Revolution (Trotsky's solution to Capitalism).
Ron Paul says we live in Economic-Fascism -- He's the only Constitutional Voter in all of Congress.
The latter is why there have been no "people's Bill" to reach congress.
Our "power" is in consumption -- Hit 'em in the pocket and they will change.
Lobbying is War

OctoBox,
When WE, the People know that a law is being broken and do nothing, we become accomplices to the crime, according to the Constitution.
So, its not about more government. I agree that our government fails us and WE, the People do nothing most of the time, but when they fail at the expense of our children being hurt, that's when it's time for responsible caring adults to do more than just sit back and observe.
WE, the People, must rise to protect our children.
Thanks.

PS
YogiToad,
There is no federal protection for parents to corporally punish their children any more than there was one protecting slave owners, prison guards, or wives when husbands could smack them around. When a person strikes another they violate the 14th amendment.
The government allowed these things to happen but all along its been a violation of the Constitution to hit.

Dear YogiToad,
It can and will be banned in the homes. The 14th amendment protects all from assault and battery. Science has proven its harm. Once something has been proven to be harmful, it must stop.
That's why smoking in public places... cell phone use when driving... bike riding without helmets...or riding without seatbelts was banned.
Why would a parent knowingly do something to their child that science has proven to be harmful, anyway?
Thank you for writing,

I don't think I was clear -- I know perfectly well that if a teacher goes beyond use-of-force guidelines then it is their fault and should be held accountable.
What I'm saying is "voting" and "lobbying" creates war -- where one group wins and the other loses. The next year the losing group lobbies and they win.
It goes back and forth like this forever.
Disigned Loopholes perpetuate budget and tenure tract management.
Make them 100% dependent on each childs tuition, paid by parents.

OctoBox, Teachers are not above the law. The 14th amendment applies to ALL. We have criminals in prison for worse things then cell phones out. Correction officers must obey the law. It's not an option. Please read our "Message to President Obama and His Supporters." It's on our Home page under Hot Topics. This report will bring you up to speed. Thanks for your support. Paula: I agree with you 100% "we the people" are the problem. It's never Gov'ts fault because the people in gov't are raised by civilians (us).
When we seek gov't solutions we are abdicating our responsibility at the cost of those who are "doing it right" -- it's always punitive.
Like Christian tax dollars being used to support abortion -- obviously you are pro-life so you know what I mean.
Or Liberal tax dollars being used to support war.
To lobby is to abdicate or take authority

OctoBox,
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you see what I mean about this issue.
In the Constitution, it states that when the government is not doing something that meets the need of "the People," it is up to the people to call the govt. to address it.
Right now, those who see the use of school corporal punishment as abuse, and are doing nothing about it, are accomplices to each occurrence. (cont'd.)

That is because, when we see a crime and do not exercise our power to stop it, we become equally guilty. That's the beauty of our govt structure, but we the People usually, don't learn our Constitution and sit back as victims or complainers instead of exercising our rights as Americans. That was the beauty of how our Constitution was built!
Thank you,
Paula
