Greg Letts vs Wayne Heginbotham in the O/40 Men's Singles Semifinal at the 2011 Australian Veterans Table Tennis Championships, held in Adelaide, South Australia
Couldn't say for sure about the 6 inches. However, his toss definitely does not go "...near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, ...". He clearly tosses the ball towards himself, and it looks like the ball is rolled off his hand, thus imparting spin.
Also, the service is required to be clearly legal. Doubtful service (too low, not vertical, or imparting spin) loses the point (after initial let+warning). His are doubtful (or worse) on all criteria.
Agree folks. If Wayne's serve was any more illegal, he'd be put in jail!

Definitely no 6 inch toss. It is a shame that good players resort to these tactics.

is it just me or does Wayne's serve look illegal (almost no toss)?
