is it ok to get someones foot on face?

When I first started learning BJJ, this is how I learned to do an arm bar from mount except you can force this position if they give you a straight. I recently learned another way to armbar wear you S your legs but your still sitting down on the chest. It's hard to explain in words but it's really effective giving tight control. One thing I've noticed rolling with our professor is he even though he's not heavy, he feels heavier in top control than the bigger guys. I need to work on that.

This could be classed as a side control as you are controling them from the side but also a mount'd position as you are above them, either way... Its S-Control :) Sontrol!!

ijuh22- Some escapes from being mounted require you to turn on your side if you arent flexible enough or can't reach.

yes, don't end up in there

yeah an arm bar what the first thing I thought of. If you can go from mt to S mount you might as well put in the arm bar right?
-
this is not the side mount as I know it, but I could be wrong. Is there more than on type of side mount.

but why would he turn into you like that? do you have to wait for him to hip escape and then hop up? It seems like there should be some intermediary step inbetween him shrimping and you having s-mount to make it more stable, otherwise he may just push you off right?

that is typically called side mount in bjj

i never knew there was a name for this! i use this mount variation all the time and its really effective .. i kinda just started doing it to see if it would work one day and its very effective ..perfect for some1 that likes armbars
For a very refined instructional on this attack see:
Saulo's BJJ Revolution 1;
or Tools of The Trade with Shawn Williams (by Greenwhale Productions).
I learned my s-mount from them and they offer some additional points that are very helpful.
S-mount is and awesome attack position. Some Schools call it 'combat-mount' too.

No problem. It is clear that your clips are a launching point for many, so I figure if I can help point toward other resources it can only help.
I mean no disrespect.

For sure! There are some great detailed videos out there. Ours are, as you said, a launching point. There is only so much you can do in 2 mins ;-)
