At the end of the day, both Aaliyah and the Isley brothers did a beautiful job with this song. but you have to give credit where credit is due. Aaliyah was about 15 or 17 when she sang the song!! thats epic. in contrast, without the original, aaliyah would have no version of hers song. so please stop arguing. they are both soulful, and by aaliyah covering this song, she has given the younger generation a taste of what the older generation had. so i thank the isley brothers and aaliyah. :)
