39% of the white vote for the Democrat is a 7 percentage point inmprovement from 2004. Young and new voters helped with this improvement. His white vote support was equal to wiin L. Douglas Wilder's in 1989. Blacks voted 87% for Kerry and 13% for Bush, so he improved more amongst whites than he did among blacks. +5 with blacks +7 with whites. N VA has a large Hispanic pop and this helps too.
