Aled Jones presents The Great Music Show, a new five-part series which offers a gentle and light-hearted introduction to popular classical music. Focusing on one piece of music in each programme, Aled explains the background to the music, looks at the lives of the composer and tells the real story behind the work of art.
In this programme, which was transmitted on the 9th Feb 2006, Aled visits the Malvern Hills to examine the history of Edward Elgar's dramatic Cello Concerto, which was first performed just after the end of World War One. While some people think the piece is a war requiem, others believe it serves as a celebration of the composer's love for his dying wife.

This is produced solely to promote Aled and his music.
