This song is performed by Turkish musicians Erkan Oğur and İsmail H. Demircioğlu.

The song is about the tragic lovers, Majnun and Leyla. There are many versions of the Majnun and Leyla story throughout the Middle East.

Here is a brief description:

"Majnun became the proverbial madman who has lost consciousness in the face of his Beloved. He is the lover who is totally annihilated in the Beloveds being."

"Majnun is left at the crossroads between death and madness. At first he becomes mad and his poetry becomes his salvation. He survives his sorrow because he is living in another realm with his mind wandering amidst poetic symbols. Poetry, in the context of "poesis" of the ancient Greeks, becomes his "creation." And for this reason, he does not die out of pain but stokes it alive, renewing it daily.

Trying to ease the pain in the boy's heart, Majnun's father takes him to a sacred temple to ask for God's help. However, instead of praying for relief from his madness, Majnun pleads, "Dear God, for Your own sake and for the sake of love, let my love grow stronger with each passing hour. Love is all I have, all I am, and all I ever want to be!" Without this emotion, Majnun knows his life would be deprived of all meaning."

  • @arabiannight100 And I too apologize if I offended you or your culture in any way.

  • @arabiannight100 Thank you for being respectful. I am not arguing the origin of it and I'm not saying it was persian but I read the summary of the Arabic folklore and I've read Nezami's layli o Majnoon. True that Nezami took the core from the folk but there are several key differences between them. All I am saying is taking a popular concept and turning it to a book that will last to the end of times is not called stealing. It's the opposite because the story would have faded in history ifnot

  • @arabiannight100 I cannot have an arguement with you since you disrespect yourself by disrespecting me. Look at your behaivour and see your narrowmindedness. If we had borrowed anything from you, I would be insulting you right now! yet ignorance is bliss my arab friend. be happy with it :P
