The very survival of capitalism for the past sixty years is probably fully explained by the slow growth in fractional slavery. In the 1960s, Americans put in a sensible work day yet were paid a family wage. Today they work twice as hard for less. But what do they produce? Toxic mortgages and new "opportunities" to ruin the lives of the black and brown. Yes, this video sounds a LOT like the real Amerikkka.

The old South was a free market indeed, it refused to allow govt to build infrastructure. The problem is that your capitalism needs full, or fractional, slavery to function. This can only be replaced by GOVERNMENT.

@TheJimboman300 The common feature of all I describe below is that people who move their lips when they read really aren't able to understand complexity. I rather doubt you even understand how a fractional slavery, constituted in the destruction of a man's family who's paid for 8 hours yet must work 16 to meet software deadlines, as was my experience, can be a necessary lubricant to a pure, and purely unsustainable capitalism.

@TheJimboman300 The parallel with Communism's apologists (see below) is indeed striking, for now that the capitalist experiment has failed in 2008 as spectacularly as Communism failed around the time of the Nazi-Soviet pact of 1939, the Useful Idiots now run to Ron Paul and fairytales about the "real" free market, even as the Useful Idiots of the 1950s first ran after Mao (until the Hundred Flowers purge and the 1960 famine) and then Fidel Castro, and then into complete fantasy.

@TheJimboman300 Today, there are more slaves world-wide than at any other time in history. This includes young women working without pay as hostesses and sex slaves in legitimate hotels in Asia. This includes the increasingly common practices of employers even in the US to not pay final paychecks, claiming a non-existent right to withhold penalties. Although this is illegal, the employee cannot usually afford to get a lawyer.
