Here is my rendition to this great song that I love so much, please excuse some timing issues in the song as it is hard for me to keep timing with this song, also some parts I improvised, for example the transition between the chorus and the verse, that should be about it. Thanks and Enjoy!

  • I think that the two things you should change in how you are playing it are these: After coming off the D-octave @1:26, instead of doing an E-octive thing, he is actually doing an A5 with the open and 7-fret A's with the 9-fret high E, THEN slide up to the 10-fret F after that. Then... when 1:32 comes around, what are playing is correct... EXCEPT you need to also play the open D with the G-F# and the open A with the D-C#. Eric was big on chords, and one of my favorite bassists!! Good work!

  • Thanks for the tips man, I will repost this song trying to be aware of the stuff you told me,

    keep on rockin!

  • That's not how I would play it.

  • How would you play it?

  • After the intro and opening D chord I would play an A chord instead of the E chord.

When you do the G F# D C# thingy four times, at the end I would gradually play D - E instead play G - C as you are doing now (well, the first time anyways)

  • Thanks for the help buddy!! very much appreciated

  • nice man. Im gonna upload my own rendition of this. Then, when my double bass gets a pick up in it, I'll tr it out on that as well.

  • Men cartman says yo0u suck no joust kidding men is fucking awesome

  • nice!

  • The only time I have heard Joe Lally's bass playing is with a side project of John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist) called Ataxia , and I actually thought the bass lines were pretty particular, so maybe you are right, though I'd have to listen more to Joe Lally's bass. On the second part of yuor question, I'm not from California, I'm mexican and I live in TJ so it's still a little step away from California :P. Also thanks from the "awesome dude" you gave to my video :D
