Hitched a ride and saw that concert in '83. Fun, fun ,fun.

@mickycisme I'm a huge fan of Peter Gabriel and have seen him in concert 3 times. I have many of his concerts...etc. This specifically made me laugh because the threw him back so quickly. Haha...usually not how it works at his concerts (when he used to crowd surf).

@MichaelStan2009 Actually there have been times when I wasn't sure he was going to make it back to the stage, and he usually didn't make it back fully clothed. Some of the most intense crowd surfing I've ever seen has been at Peter Gabriel concerts.

@tragblack In '83 to watch Gabriel being passed from person to person and then back to the stage on que was art .After his So album of '86, and it's popularity, the experience was changed.
Seeing him again, I was surprised when he decided to turn his back and prepare to fall back into a new audience. The front row audience grabbed at him for his clothing. His roadies and the security had to jump in to salvage him. I wonder if Gabriel, without his choice, regrets losing art for fame?

I was at Madison Wis for this tour. Part of it made the live album. Yes the US crowd knew what to do when he dove. They carried him out quite a ways...nearly to me and I was 2/3rds back on the lower level. What an awesome concert that was.

Caught him in NYC during this tour and I was in the first few rows. We couldn't believe it when he just turned his back on us during this number and just threw himself into our rows to be caught! We just passed him back about ten rows, his arms outstretched , facing the ceiling, in an amazing act of trusting his audience. It was both outrageous and moving.

CROWD SURFING FAIL!

First person I ever saw in concert. Still the best!

he wasn't the first to do the crowd surf. But it was cool anyway. Iggy was doing that years ago.
It's funny how different people in Denmark are from people in US.
US crowd went wild when he jumped into it - Danish people just throw him back to the stage I LOOOVE US VERSION!!!

I believe he was one of the first to do a crowd surf. My mom said it was great watching his body float around the arena.
