Media Matters for America held a panel discussion on the growing culture of extremist, anti-government, and violent rhetoric in conservative media. Media Matters Senior Fellow Eric Boehlert, who has written extensively on the subject, hosted leaders from the Southern Poverty Law Center, America's Voice, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Council of La Raza, and the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights to examine how the mainstreaming of extremism impacts our security, politics, and culture.

If I was one of the two men on that panel I'd be very careful not to piss off any of those women. They look like ready to do some serious butt-kicking.

My other concern is for people who see themselves as falling outside the mainstream. These are people who are unafraid to follow their conscience and pride themselves on their individuality and "ability" to go against the grain (even against Fox) but the conservative right has its insidious tentacles stretched into the arena of so called independent and alternative sources. They masquerade their agendas in the form of folks like Alex Jones and his on conspiracy theories.

stupid ass people........you protect free speech as long as you're the one speaking. I like how your group classifies "patriots" who hold the constitution to a higher level as "extremists". You call for hate crime legislation...but have you retards ever heard of a "love crime". One commits a crime against another because they hate that person. Your cause is shit, as is your flawed logic. you will be smashed and exsposed as the racists that you in fact are.

I wonder if the hateful and extremist rhetoric in the mainstream conservative media is undermining the Republican Part. The party imploded during the last election. The conservative media has come out fighitng, starting with Limbaugh. While it might help reduce the base of the Republican Party is could also inflame domestic right wing terrorism.
The United States needs to adopt anti-hate speech laws like those in German. Hate speach should not be protected. It should be illegal.

Public Eye also just released an important report on the same subject. Fresh Air has a segment about it on their site. Good job MMA, thanks for doing this and posting it here.

Code Words of Hate 5:20 were really insightful. I never made the connection between those words I hear all the time and their historical roots.
