This is a very engrossing game and was very advanced for it's time. I still play it on DOSBox once in a while. I'm guessing you probably weren't around back when people still used DOS on 486 and early Pentium machines so you don't have the perspective needed to see that there were games from back then that were every bit as good as the games of today. It takes more than high resolution graphics to make a good game, it takes a good story which this game has.

Played and beat Fallout 1. Played and beat Fallout 2. Played and beat Fallout 3.
The story to Fallout 3 was disappointing; I expected better from a company who created entire worlds like Daggerfall. BAK on the other hand was screated and written a lot like a novel, and written BY A NOVEL AUTHOR.
Read a book. Go outside. In fact, I'll recommend the book that STARTED the genre of dystopian post-apoc/large corporation sprawl: Neuromancer. Read it. Great stuff.
