It is unfortunate that this delightful Rondo has been dropped from the repertoire of most pianists. (or was never included). The Rondo was originally dedicated to the Countess Giulietta Guicciardi. However, Beethoven decided that this Countess deserved a more important dedication and placed her name upon the so called Moonlight Sonata. The Rondo then became dedicated to the Countess Henriette von Lichnowsky, who was the sister of Prince Carl and Count Moritz Lichnowsky, two of Beethovens most important patrons.

  • It's interesting that between the composition of Rondo in G and this one Beethoven lost his hearing.

  • Played this last year^^ Wonderful piece

However, the first rondo from opus 51 is often abused by mostly (children) pianists.
