At 2 pm on July 24, 2010 Pete Seeger left his home in Beacon, New York and headed towards New York City where the City Winery was holding a BP oil spill benefit concert. Only three days prior, the event's producer, Richard Barone, approached Pete with the idea of performing at the benefit. Pete responded, "Oh, I just wrote a song about the oil spill! Let me play it for you."
He arrived at the City Winery at 5 pm. After a brief interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he carried his banjo and acoustic guitar on stage and began his three song set with a new song he co-wrote with his long time friend Lorre Wyatt entitled "God's Counting on Me, God's Counting on You." The next two songs were old favorites "Turn, Turn, Turn" and "If I had a Hammer." A long time believer that the audience is as important than the person on the stage, he had the whole City Winery singing along every step of the way. After the inspiring conclusion of "If I had a Hammer", Pete picked up his banjo and acoustic guitar, walked off stage and headed back to Beacon for dinner.
Pete's performance helped the City Winery raise $15,000 that night. The proceeds were donated to the Gulf Restoration Network to help clean up the oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

LYRICS
Words-adapted from The Bible, book of Ecclesiastes
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late
Now I can add You with Meg as 'my favorites' singing a song which will live forever.
