After a conversation with her friend Dennis, Cindy is rather perplexed that she did not receive an invitation to Mary's party. In the tradition of Dream Vision folklore (cf. Chaucer, &c.), Cindy has a dream wherein her Fairy Godmother teaches her and Dennis how to have a fun time at a party.
It goes without saying that the reason why kids are the way they are these days is because the teachings of this film are no longer taken seriously.
Note also the incredible caliber of the acting.

First of all, Dennis is about 2 years older than everybody else, and wouldn't go near a little kids' party like this in real life.
Second, the Fairy Godmother's whiny, self-pitying shtick at the end is annoying. She's acting all downtrodden because the 2 kids "don't need her anymore". Shut up, stupid. That was the whole point, for them to learn what you were telling them.
