Lexington, Kentucky Country Music radio station WVLK K-93 ( today known as WLXX 92.9 "THE BEAR") once held an annual July 4th Annual Music Festival and Fireworks display at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. It was a great time that drew huge crowds thanks in part to some great music from some of Central Kentucky's best working bands.
One of these bands was the popular Uncle Lijah Band, who were based out of Winchester, Kentucky, where they were the Houseband for a Winchester nightclub called THE DIXIELAND LOUNGE. (NOTE:The Dixieland Lounge is now closed, but in it's heyday was one of the areas most popular clubs, hosting not only area talent, but national talent as well, such as Alan Jackson, The KY Headhunters, and Vern Gosdin.)
In this video Uncle Lijah members are:
Kevin Slucher: Lead Guitar/Vocals
Jimmy Kluge: Drums
Willie Thompson: Guitar, Keys, Vocals
Eddie Groves: Bass Guitar/ Vocals
MCEE: K-93 Air Personality Karl Shannon- Carl was the morning guy on K-93 back then. Other personalities included Matt Austin (Daytime Drive).
For many years K-93 was the top Country Music station in Central Kentucky.
This is PART 2 of Three Parts.
Video is dedicated to the memory of "Caveman". RIP Cavey.
