  • @vaticanantichrist HTML engineer is a pretty pointless job title indeed. I respect the classical engineering disciplines, but don't take it out of context! I think "software engineering" is a legitimate discipline. Unfortunately, it does lack maturity in process and methodology, especially in quantitative terms. But some are trying to practice this better. I speak from experience, the agile methodology is an excellent start but NOT the complete solution (no pun).

  • Languages are not the only aspect of the software discipline, folks! It is silly and enormously immature to argue only about language qualifications. While I do agree with the distinction of a system calibre programming language vs scripting, they all play their role. Specialization is for insects, as far as I'm converned. If you "know" C or C++, even a 10 year expert, that's great ... but without diversity, you are a "stiff." Many a programmer over the years made this mistake and dried up.

  • @etopla You are a fucking idiot for name calling. There. How do you like it? Your EQ has to be flirting with ZERO. I don't care if your IQ is 160+ (which, I'm a betting man it is not), you can still be a complete MORON. Don't come on here insulting people for simple disagreements about things. It is unprofessional and characterized by a child in need of serious discipline. Please show some humility, and DON'T reply to me with an argument or insult or at all. Just take ownership.

  • @etopla - Thats like saying i am a HTML engineer. If you want to call yourself an ENGINEER get an engineering degree.

  • @etopla - Lots of Web servers have been written in C & C++. almost all web development is done in C or C++. It's just that C or C++ is a layer in the stack, and not the topmost layer. .NET, Java, Ruby, Python, PHP - all the most prominent runtime execution engines for these languages are written in C or C++. Google (all the bottom layer) is actually C++ Gmail is written with Google Web Toolkit, a Java library. PHP is not engineering. You can use C# for web development!

  • @vaticanantichrist

    Your a fucking idiot..

Go ahead and code C++ for web development. Dipshit

  • PHP Engineer is a JOKE!!!!!! I am getting a 4 year degree in Software engineering. I am learning c/c++, java, C# - Enough said..

  • @cplusplus84 tell that to facebook.

  • Sorry a PHP engineer? That's a joke, sorry. PHP is spaghetti code . Talk about wanting to sell a product to foreign countries... You would at least want to server scripting in a language which offers internationalizing your product such as ASP.NET and their ressource manager :)

This douche has no idea what he is talking about. Dynamic scripting language? Learn C# or Java and you'll be set for the next 10-15 years.
