I'm with you on that one Dave. Having watch A LOT of cartoons since I was as a kid, Scooby Doo just ages so horribly. That show definitely has some big limitations that as an adult looking back isn't worth dealing with.
In contrast to that, I never really like B-level sci-fi shows, be it Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, or Dr. Who.

I hear you on the B-level sci-fi. I used to feel the same way about Dr. Who, but now I really enjoy it. I suppose tastes have changed over the years.
As for Charles, well, he just digs it all!
