It's just that they're all such 80's wall street extreme yuppie d*bags and also they are like 'clones' practically; even their cards are almost all the same (they are all "vice-president"). that's why they can't remember (or throughout the movie it's just deliberately confused) each other's names & identities, etc. Personally i don't think Bateman (in the movie at least if not the book) actually killed anyone; I think he daydreamed it all, sitting in his office doing nothing all day.

i hope you're one of those guys who goes to their friend's neighbor's son's nephew to have your business cards "designed" for free , because to a graphic designer it isn't trivial.
