Mr Advice rewinds time to the moment when Salay and Brima are told she is pregnant by a TBA (Trained Birth Assistant). The TBA tells her to go to the clinic immediately for the first of her check ups. At the clinic the MCHA tells he that because she is very young she will need to take extra care and visit the clinic regularly. Brima promises he will take good care of her.
treatment. The MCHA says she should come back to the clinic to have her baby. It is too
Salay is now heavily pregnant and sitting at home with Angela. She has sudden pain and calls out. Brima hurries in and sends his niece to get the trained TBA who arrives and is concerned. She rings for the ambulance to take Salay to the clinic.
At the clinic, Salay's blood pressure is high and she is told she must deliver her baby at the hospital. Because she acted quickly it will be fine. At the hospital, Salay gives birth to a baby boy.
Mr Advice tells the audience that because Salay and Brima went to the clinic regularly and worked with a trained TBA, she was able to use the ambulance to get to the clinic quickly. Despite her being very young and having high blood pressure, the baby was born safely.
