McCartney and I had our first show of 2013 last weekend!! (Start of my last junior season ): ) IT WAS FANTASTIC.
So Monday before the show, I sprained my sacrum and threw out a couple of ribs (not riding, at my house) because I'm an idiot. And the doctor wouldn't let me even try to ride until Friday AT the show (and only because I begged him to let me show lol). So I didn't ride that entire week and my trainer just rode McCartney.
On Friday I got on 20 minutes before jumpers started in the schooling ring and it was PAINFUL. Like seriously, I felt like I had a knife in my back and I couldn't sit or anything and posting the trot was close to impossible. But I went in for the low jumpers and he was super good, and hadn't even schooled in the show ring yet! We got some time faults but still ended up 4th, and then I decided to enter training and we were double clear and 2nd!!
Saturday was our worst day, I couldn't ride and the judge wasn't a huge fan of him even though he was so well behaved and good. We were 4th, 5th over fences and 6th under saddle in the older juniors.
Sunday started off rocky, he was crabby in the morning for jumpers so we didn't place, and I almost couldn't walk because my back was in so much pain. We then did junior medal (first time I've ever done it), which was actually a decent sized class because it was combined. I rode like an idiot but we managed to get 3rd.
THEN I took some pain meds and felt a little better before the junior eq, which was also pretty big because they combined the older and younger kids. I rode the best round of my life over fences and won!! Then on the flat I managed to get 3rd even though I'm 99% sure I looked like a had a stick up my butt (flatting for some reason hurt way worse than jumping). And we were champion!!! Our first champion ribbon ever! We also won a bridle for it :)
I am so proud of him. He's becoming such a well schooled easy horse, he literally packed me around all weekend cause I suck and got ever single lead change clean and made the turns literally effortless. It was our first time showing above 3' together too!!
