TheGobliontrain: I would agree that Fats and his music had a great impact on the American music scene, but I think its a stretch to consider him the greatest figure in music performance history. As far as inspiring yuppie kids, I would hope so but so far they leave me unimpressed - they do not have his class.

I am waiting for the day when the critics will acknowledge that this man is the greatest figure in American music performance history. Even Louis Armstrong bowed indebtedness to him. Fats has inspired every yuppie kid who wanted to make a statement; thing is they probably don't even realize it. Fats was so damn fat he practically had to be carried from show to show. He never would have made it on American Idol, and that says a lot about our current culture. We love you Fats! You live on!

Si Fats n'est pas entré au panthéon, c'est peut-être lié à son visage débonnaire et souriant. Miles Dévisse avec ses lunettes noires, sa morgue et les cachets astronomiques qu'il demandait pour jouer 3 ou 4 merdes, avait tout pigé de l'approche marketing... ça impressionne les âmes faibles.
