  • where do you get the leather?

  • @jcboyanton

I buy my hides from Linda at Wickett and Craig. There's a link for them posted on my website on my 'Links' page

  • Bob, Thank you for posting these demos! I'm an amateur leather worker and I'm getting ready to make my first guitar strap for a dear friend and these have been so helpful in understanding the process. I was wondering - do you have a default ratio of the wide strap to the thin 'belt' adjustment section? I don't play guitar so I'm having a little trouble envisioning how much length should be in the 'tail' section.

    Beautiful work! Thank you!

I sent a message offline Sibilia

  • What kind of surface do you use for punching?

  • @fijibottle

I have a log that stands on end to about waist height. I have a piece of a poly kitchen cutting board cut to fit the top of the log and glued down with Barge contact cement. I use it for all punch work. If I'm riveting I use a mini anvil on top of the log or a 1 1/2' thick flat steel dolly ~

  • @otaypanky2 Hadn't heard about that, but it sure reinforces my habit. I'm in a rural location--first line of defense is me.
