Kids, if you learn nothing else from any of my 250+ YouTube videos, just remember this: There's no fresh seafood on Monday.

Congratulations to Anthony Bourdain on the 100th episode of No Reservations on the Travel Channel. Thank you, Tony, for the books and the show, and best wishes for many, many more.

The book I'm reading from: Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain, pp 65-67. Buy it and read it, cover to cover, before you enter another restaurant.

  • I'd eat seafood in Hawaii or the Seattle area only. They seem more prone to keeping their stock fresh--but I'm sure there are those who save everything till Monday. Brings a whole level of definition to manic monday--crawling to the bathroom. I ate sushi from a cute little stand in Honolulu once and was making so much noise the next day, I sounded like a Great White shark trying to sing Memories. That's a grastric sound no one wants to hear twice!

  • @Rikotistic Good point about seafood in Hawaii and Seattle, but as you say, even in Honolulu you can get a bad one... They key is eating what's local and confirming that it's fresh. Crab in SF, calamari in Monterey, lobster in Maine, oysters in Tamales Bay... Just not on Mondays unless you watched it come out of the water.

  • Never have eaten an oyster, and I will probably never eat one. One friend almost did not survive eating one of those creatures found on the sea bed. A fast food hamburger is probably just as Russianroulettesh, but in my mind it is not. Unless in survival mode I will not eat any animal uncooked. In fact it almost made me sick listing to you talking about oysters. Then on second thought you eaters of them probably preform some pleasurable functions better than me :-)

  • @ockteby The funniest thing is, most of my friends and family would say that I'm a fussy eater, who has too many things on my "won't touch that" list. I guess I just hang out with adventurous sorts ;^)

  • No seafood on Monday, got it! Only, I buy frozen fishsticks at the dollar store and they're already really, really old. What the heck, I'll eat them on Tuesday anyway lol Have a great week, Ken! :)

  • @theloathlydaddy Just be sure to check the expiration date on the side of the box. Be safe!

  • @renetto I'm easier to take on smaller screens. Get a video watch and you'll be my biggest fan!

  • I love your videos even more when I watch them on my phone. When I figure out why, I'll let you know:) - Sent from MyU2B

  • @audionautix I've known a few food industry refugees who won't eat anything but home-grown tomatoes. And even then they wash them till their hands bleed.

  • Food poisoning is the worst. Even a mild case. It's like getting beaten up from the inside. I've worked at a few restaurants in my life. I can't believe I still eat at them.
