RCPowers F-117 and eBay keychain camera

This is my first flight test of a keychain/keyfob "spy" camera I purchased off eBay for $.01 (plus about $10 shipping). It shoots 720x480 30fps resolution with sound. Not a bad camera really considering how small/light this thing is. This is obviously not the best platform for a camera, but as a test, it looks like the camera works OK. This was an overcast, windy day. The plane was really bouncing around a lot more than usual.

These shoot really good video for their size! And way cheaper smaller than spycam. Is that the '808' you got? What gig size did you get or did you get one that had no internal memory? Mind if I ask the seller you went to? looking at one for my sail plane. tnx.

Don't know about the '808' designation. This one is 720x480 30fps and has no internal memory. I added a 2GB Micro SD card and it is plenty for the battery life.

Video looks pretty good right off the camera. YouTube compresses it a lot and it is easy to notice that fact.

One good thing about this one vs. the one with the internal memory is that the microphones in these seem to be less sensitive than the ones with internal memory (less wind noise!).

How did you get the date and time to be accurate?

1) Delete everything on the MicroSD card.

2) Create a text file called TAG.TXT in the root directory of the MicroSD card.

3) Open TAG.TXT and enter the following, correcting the date and time:

[date]

2010/01/23

21:00:00

4) Save TAG.TXT.

5) Eject and power-on the camera. The system will analyze TAG.TXT, then set system time according to what the file indicates. After that the text file will be deleted by the system automatically.

I have to get one or two of those cameras. Nice video and I love the dog when he tried to get the plane.
